1920'S ORIGINAL HAMBONE BLACK AMERICANA VINTAGE CIGAR ADVERTISING OLD STORE SIGN. There are reproductions of this sign selling on eBay for more than I am asking for this original... Dating to the 1920's this is an extraordinary piece of early tobacciana and black Americana history. Often called a fan pull as these 7" round double-sided (identical both sides) cardboard signs were often attached to the cord of the ceilng fans of the general stores where Hambone Cigars were sold. The details, colors and graphics are simply beautiful. The image is a parody of the Charles Lindburg flight across the Atlantic with an obviously racially insensitive image of the pilot but very acceptable in its day. The condition is near mint with the signs' original hanging string still attached. Please note that this sign is highly reproduced and most of these on eBay are reproductions. This sign is guaranteed original.
