    Description

    A beautiful antique sterling silver bud trumpet vase by Clarence A. Vanderbilt.
    The vase has a very beautiful trailing leaf design all around the vase, alternating short and long. This vase measures approximately 10 ½" tall and 4" wide at the top (the opening for a bud is smaller).
    This antique vase has a dent at the opening. A picture shows the dent.
    The maker is Clarence. A. Vanderbilt, and on the bottom of this vase is his silversmith mark, the word 'sterling', along with the number 1385.
    Clarence A. Vanderbilt (1869?-?) was a jeweler / silversmith who started in business on lower Broadway around 1891. Vanderbilt appears in the US Census of 1920 age 50 born New York, living at 2334 Creston Ave., Bronx, with his wife Jennie 50 and sister-in-law Frances Cornelisse 39.
