Custom True Temper Tommy Axe by Stunner Blades Customs
This auction is for a beautiful, custom True Temper Tommy Axe, created by Stunner Blades Customs in San Francisco, California.
This Tommy Axe head was redesigned with it’s hefty claws in the rear removed from the poll, making this a lighter, handier piece. The head was completely cleaned and hand polished, including through the eye. The poll was given a nice symmetrical, rectangular shape to coincide with the haft. The True Temper Tommy Axe embossed logo is deep and legible.
The haft was hand carved from a solid piece of exotic Padauk lumber from South America, specifically for this axe head. It was simply carved in a straight and rectangular shape with slightly rounded corners.
The haft was hand fit to the head using boiled linseed oil and Titebond Ultimate. A solid Birch wedge was used to keep everything tight and was cut 2/16” proud.
The entire complete axe was soaked and cured in boiled linseed oil and cured. Genuine Axe Wax, made in Ashland, Oregon, was used as a final protective finish to the head and haft.
Overall length from top of eye to bottom of haft is 16 inches. The head is 5 1/4 inches in length with a 3 3/8 inch blade. Overall weight is 2 lbs 3.7 oz.
