Custom Vintage Plumb National Pattern Scout on Ash
This auction is for a custom, vintage Plumb Scout National Pattern on Ash, brought to you by Stunner Blades Customs, San Francisco, California.
This vintage Plumb hatchet head was thoroughly cleaned, hand polished and sharpened. The internal eye was filed smooth and coated with boiled linseed oil.
The haft was hand carved from a single piece of straight grain White Ash. It’s grain was highlighted by way of fire and was hand fit to the hatchet eye. The haft was sanded smooth, which further highlights the grain lines.
A custom cut Cherry wood wedge was fully driven into the kerf, coated with boiled linseed oil and Titebond Ultimate. Contact between the hatchet head and haft shoulders is solid, as shown in photos.
The entire hatchet was hand rubbed with boiled linseed oil, followed by genuine Odie’s Oil.
Total length from top of eye to bottom of haft is 16 1/4”. Length from mid bit to poll is 5”, with a 3 1/8” sharpened bit. Total weight is approximately 1 lb 10.9 oz.
This beautiful and solid hatchet is ready for work or to add to your display.
