Custom Vintage True Temper Flint Edge Boy’s Axe; ‘Blue Temper’
This auction is for a custom, vintage True Temper Flint Edge Axe by Stunner Blades Customs, San Francisco, California.
This vintage Flint Edge was thoroughly cleaned and hand mirror polished, leaving it’s small characteristic pock marks from it’s past.
The haft is a new, carved Hickory piece. It was hand trimmed to fit the axe head eye. The haft was sanded smooth and the grain flamed for highlights. The smooth wood was dyed a brilliant, iridescent royal blue from top to bottom. The haft was dried and coated with boiled linseed oil.
A birch wedge coated with boiled linseed oil and Titebond Ultimate were used to secure the head to haft, resulting in an extremely tight, wobble free fit.
The haft was hand rubbed with genuine Odie’s Oil, cured, then coated with genuine Axe Wax.
Total length from top of the 1/2” proud eye to bottom of haft is 19”. The axe head from mid blade to poll is 6 1/4” with a 4” blade. Total weight is 2 lbs 13.1 oz.
This ‘Blue Temper’ Flint Edge is an outstanding and unorthodox piece for your collection, stepping outside the normal stereotypical axe.
