Description
Here is a very nice Dorchester Pottery covered syrup pitcher decorated in their scroll pattern.This pitcher measures 5 5/8 inches
high to the top of the finial,
about 4 inches
in diameter, and 4 3/4 inches across the handle
. It is signed on the bottom
with the round stamp, CAH, a
nd by the potter Nando Ricci
.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs, just some minor clay shrinkages and bubbles inherent in hand made pottery. A good piece of blue & white stoneware.
The
Dorchester Pottery Works was founded in 1895 by George Henderson in Dorchester, MA, part of the city of Boston.
They
introduced the blue and white dinnerware in 1940 right around the time the nearby Dedham Pottery stopped, and
continued to produce pottery until 1979.
