Beautiful Vtg/Antique GENUINE PLUMB Broad Head Hewing Axe/Hatchet, Unique Handle
This is a good old
"AMERICANAX Glassport, PA."
hewing axe/hatchet. The hatchet heads cutting edge is in nice condition with just a few very small chip on it (see pics). The poll end has some pieces of metal missing from it (see pics). Both sides of the head have some pitting on them, along with some minor scratchers and dings on it, that are normal for an old axe head like this one (see pics). The makers mark
"AMERICANAX Glassport, PA."
is a little faded away (see pics). The head is securely mounted to the hickory handle, not loose at all, but there are some wedges in the axe eye (see pics). There's a crack or break in the handle, and also some pieces of wood missing at the bottom of the handle (see last pics). The hatchet is 15-1/2" long. The head is  6" long, with a 4-1/4" wide cutting edge. The total weight is 2 pound 8.6 oz.
