    Two interesting typed signed letters on

    stationary soliciting a contribution from a Connecticut resident and a circa 1930 Christmas Greetings from Culion from
    Leonard Wood Memorial (American Leprosy Foundation)
    also soliciting a contribution.
    The first letter
    is a single sheet folded to make 4 pages with 2 pages of text and a page with a reproduced sepia tone portrait image of Mrs. Dorothy Paul Wade.
    The letter is dated June 11, 1930, from Perry Burgess, a trustee of the Memorial addressed to a Connecticut resident inquiring whether he could be counted on to make a contribution.
    From the text of the letter:
    Dear Mr. Andrews: A few week ago I visited the Philippine Islands … while there I visited Culion, the largest leper colony on the world. … the leper colony has given place to eager hope and that on April 29
    th
    the finest leprosarium in the world was opened on the island of Cebu …, Our Board of Directors has asked me to make inquiry of you as to
    whether
    we may not count on your help to complete successfully this great undertaking on behave of the most wretched beings on the face of the earth. Very sincerely,
    Perry Burgess.
    The verso of the cover page letter is illustrated with reproduced sepia tone portrait image of Mrs. Dorothy Paul Wade, wife of Dr. H. Windsor Wade, American Pathologist at Culion. Her printed letter is also a request for a contribution to carry on leprosy research at the Culion Leper Colony.
    The second letter
    is dated October 1, 1930, from Perry Burgess, President of the Memorial addressed the same Connecticut resident inquiring whether he would be willing to make a contribution.
    This is also single sheet folded to make 4 pages and the centerfold pages print info about the Leonard Wood Memorial and a request for contributions.

    The 2 letters and Christmas card have some age tanning otherwise in very good condition, odor free. The original mailing envelops have some minor soiling and closed tears otherwise in good condition.
