This a transition stock made during the period after Dec 1939 when laminated stocks and cupped butt plates were approved for use. The stock is laminated, but the butt plate is still the early flat style. The transition took all of 1940 and into 1941 to be completed.
The bayonet lug, recoil lug, and butt plate are all marked with the acceptance stamp of Eagle 214 used by the Waffenampt team at JP Sauer.
The stock is numbered 6095 in the barrel channel and Eagle 214 on the wood, and the bayonet lug is marked Eagle 214 and 95 meaning it is original to the stock. There are NO capture marks or renumbers on this stock
The stock carries the H stamp meaning for issue to the HEER ( Army) over several Eagle 214 acceptance stamps, all located on the right side under the bolt take down grommet. The stamps are in a straight line: H over E WaA 214 over E WaA 214 down low. Very deep and clear.
The stock is in excellent condition showing one arsenal repair for a chip out of the laminated wood located at 2 oclock off the grommet. The wood plug is absolutely flat to the surface of the stock and is a quality repair.
The interior routing is all sharp and well defined in the barrel channel and receiver cut our area.
The bayonet lug with pin, cleaning rod lug, recoil lug with bolt and screw, and rear trigger guard screw metal sleeve are alll solidly in place as is the take down grommet and butt plate with both screws.
The stock shows wear but not abuse, doesn't look like it saw heavy field use. It is clean, non greasy and ready for you to mount on a rifle right out of the box. Please ask any questions before bidding as this auction is final with no returns.
