    original rare metal link Track link Renault FT (Renault FT Modèle 1917, often referred to as Renault FT-17) - French light tank from the First World War, also used during World War II. The Renault FT tank was constructed in 1917. It was the first tank with a classic design - typical of almost all tanks built later to the present day. This design featured a combat (crew) compartment at the front, armament of a fully rotating turret, and a power compartment at the rear. This tank was intended to support infantry, so its speed was low. Its small size, which is an advantage, caused some problems in negotiating the trenches and tranches, which were eliminated with the use of a "tail" - a special structure mounted at the rear of the hull. About 4,000 tanks were produced (about 3,000 during World War I of this type. FT tanks were used extensively in the battles of the end of World War I, starting from their debut on May 31, 1918. Of the tanks produced during the war, 356 were destroyed by artillery, 13 by mines, and 70 for other reasons. It was the most effective tank of this war. Most of the tanks produced were still in service at the outbreak of World War II, mainly in the French army, although they were already obsolete by then.
