Description
SINGER 95-1 REPLACEMENT TIMING BELT(S)MADE WITH RUBBERIZED MATERIAL FOR
MUCH GREATER STRENGTH AND DURABILITY. THESE BELTS ARE IMPERVIOUS TO OIL AND WILL LAST MUCH LONGER THAN THE ORIGINAL COMPOSITE LEATHER BELTS
IF YOU HAVE A SINGER 95-1 SEWING MACHINE THAT WON'T SEW BECAUSE ITS TIMING BELT IS TORN OR MISSING, HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO GET YOUR VINTAGE MACHINE SEWING AGAIN!
95-1's WERE EXTENSIVELY USED IN GARMENT FACTORIES FROM THE EARLY 1900'S UNTIL AROUND THE LATE 50'S WHEN THEY BECAME OBSOLETE AND WERE REPLACED BY THE GEAR DRIVEN 95-10 AND THE LATER MODELS LIKE THE 95-40, 95-80 WHEN SINGER FINALLY STOPPED MAKING THEM.
THE "BIG BROTHER" TO THE 95 CLASS MACHINES WERE THE 96 CLASS MACHINES. THEY HAVE A LONGER ARM AND BED, HAVE THE SAME ROTARY SEWING HOOK BUT HAVE A LONGER NEEDLE STROKE AND THEREFORE USE THE 257X16 CLASS NEEDLES.
A SINGER 31-15 LOOKS LIKE A 96 CLASS MACHINE, USES THE 257X16 NEEDLE BUT HAS AN OSCILLATING SEWING HOOK. 96 CLASS MACHINES ARE STRONGER GARMENT SEWING MACHINES BECAUSE OF THE ROTARY SEWING HOOK.
THERE ARE SOME EARLY 96 CLASS MACHINES STILL "OUT THERE", MOST OFTEN THE 96-2 MODELS. THESE MACHINES USED THE SAME INTERNAL TIMING BELT AS THE 95-1
THE 95 CLASS MACHINES HAVE A SHORTER NEEDLE STROKE AND USE 88X1 CLASS NEEDLES. BOTH CLASSES OF NEEDLES ARE STILL READILY AVAILABLE FROM EBAY SELLERS AND DIAMOND NEEDLE IN NJ.
THE BROWN NITRLE MATERIAL IS COMMONLY USED FOR POWER TRANSMISSION BELTING. IT IS WELL SUITED FOR THESE BELTS AND IS VIRTUALLY IMPERVIOUS TO OIL AND THE HEAT GENERATED INSIDE A SEWING MACHINE WHEN RUNNING ALL DAY LONG...MUCH BETTER FOR SURE THAN THE ORIGINAL COMPOSITE LEATHER BELTS.
IT TOOK SOME CONSIDERABLE TRIAL AND ERROR TO REVERSE ENGINEER THE ORIGINAL COMPOSITE LEATHER BELTS. I'M FAIRLY SURE THEY WERE MADE FROM HORSEHIDE RATHER THAN COWHIDE WHICH NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STAND UP VERY LONG TO THE HEAT AND OIL INSIDE A VERY HOT MACHINE RUNNING AT LEAST OVER 20 HOURS A DAY.
IF YOU HAVE A MACHINE WITH A SERIAL # THAT STARTS WITH "G", THEN IT COULD BE ONE OF MY MACHINE'S "SISTERS"...ALL MY SEWING MACHINES ARE FEMALE. MY G7282973 HAD 9,999 SISTERS WHEN SHE LEFT THE ELIZABETH, NJ SINGER FACTORY ON 8/28/1919. OTHER 95-1 MACHINES HAVE SERIAL NUMBERS THAT START WITH 2 LETTERS FOLLOWED BY EITHER SIX OR SEVEN NUMBERS.
TO LOOK UP YOUR MACHINE'S BIRTHDAY, GOOGLE SEARCH:
"SINGER COMPREHENSIVE SERIAL NUMBERS" AND THE
ISMACS.NET
WEBSITE PAGE WILL POP UP...
THE TIMING BELTS I MAKE ARE GUARANTEED TO RUN AT THE SPEEDS FOR WHICH YOUR 95-1 WAS RATED WHEN IT WAS FIRST MANUFACTURED.

IF YOU HAVE A 95K1 MACHINE, IT WAS MANUFACTURED AT THE CLYDEBANK, SCOTLAND SINGER PLANT IN THE EARLY 1900'S
ALL 95-1 MACHINES WERE MANUFACTURED AT THE ELIZABETH, NJ FACTORY WHICH WAS DEMOLISHED IN THE LATE 60'S
IF YOU ARE IN THE UK OR ANYWHERE ELSE OUTSIDE THE USA, PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE MAKING YOUR PURCHASE. THERE WILL BE ADDED SHIPPING CHANGES. BUYERS IN PUERTO RICO CAN COMPLETE A REGULAR EBAY PURCHASE AND THE SHIPPING WILL BE INCLUDED.
SPECIAL NOTE: WHEN THE QUANTITY OF AVAILABLE BELTS GETS DOWN TO
"LAST ONE" , THIS EBAY GENERATED INFORMATION DOESN'T APPLY BECAUSE THE BELT WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE AS LONG AS I'M ALIVE AND MAKING THEM. AS FAR AS I KNOW, I'M THE ONLY SOURCE FOR THESE HANDMADE INTERNAL TIMING BELTS FOR THE SINGER 95-1.
AS IT TURNS OUT, THE SINGER 96-1 (THE BIG BROTHER/SISTER OF THE 95-1) USES THE SAME TIMING BELT. A 96-1 HAS A LONGER ARM, USES A LONGER NEEDLE AND THE SAME SEWING HOOK. THE 96-1 WAS INTRODUCED BY SINGER AT THE SAME TIME/YEAR AS THE 95-1...BETWEEN 1900 AND 1915.
