Interesting old item. I don't know if you can still buy sharpening stones at the Hot Springs National Park, but perhaps you can. Knife sharpening has changed a lot since this was originally sold, and most modern steels can't be honed on a Washita stone. This one isn't listed as hard Arkansas or soft Arkansas, but it is broken, and previous owner kept the biggest piece and presumably kept using it. It has been used, shows typical dip in surface. Mostly I am listing this because of the pouch. The leather does show wear and the markings are a bit hard to see, but it is stamped into the leather on two lines: "HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK / WASHITA NOVACULITE."
Pictures show condition. Measures 4-1/8" long, 2-1/8" wide, about 1/2" thick with stone inside.
