Vintage Japanese Hatchet with 8 1/2" long blade

Description

This heavy Japanese hatchet is used but in great condition. See high resolution photos for detail of condition and craftsmanship. It weights 1 1/4 pounds. Blade length 8 1/2", width 1 3/4" at tip, 1/4" thick. Overall length is 16 3/4". Lacquered cherry hard scabbard. Originally purchased from Smith and Hawkin about 40 years ago. Japanese characters engraved on one side of blade,

on the opposite side. Oak handle.
