    Description

    Vintage WWII and prewar Plumb National Defense DEFENSAX hatchet original hickory handle and full grain leather sheath. The names of "Defense and Victory" were not developed by Plumb for there marketing, they were the identified national theme names established by the U. S. Office of Emergency Management (Established 1940) first in preparation for defending against possible invasion and later (1944+) for victory in the war on both sides of the world. This piece of history is well worn but still very usable in the right hands. All I can make out on the handle is “TESTED HICKORY", "PLUMB" and the "U" in U.S.A. Other letters are not legible. The hatchet and handle only weighs 1 pound 8 ounces and total length is 14". The weight and length match up to Plumb catalog specs. on
