Vintage Salem Cigarettes Neon Sign 1989
The Salem Cigarettes NEON sign is in very good condition for its' age and lights up nicely.
The Salem lettering lights up in a very nice green and there are red and yellow neon tubing around the lettering. The colors are much greener, redder, and yellower that the pictures show. There are a few small spots in the yellow neon where the paint has chipped off (lower left and upper right).
The metal pieces that attach to the metal brace and extend to hold the neon tubing in place have some rusting to them.
There is a Surgeon General’s Warning printed in a rectangular box on the lower right side of the sign.
At the top of the two vertical metal brackets, there are two holes with a metal chain attached for mounting. The chain is anchored with a plastic tie which we have not removed – The chain looks to be about 8 or 9 inches long on each bracket.
The transformer has a Franceformer metal tag on the right side of it with a serial number of 07 89. There are also a blue Underwriters Laboratories sticker, an Everbrite sticker, and an International Association of Sheet Metal Workers sticker present.
The power cord and three prong plug look to be in good shape. The cord is attached to same plastic tie mentioned previously – The cord looks to be about 4 or 5 feet long.
There is a pull chain to turn the neon on and off. We tested this and it worked fine. The Sign dimensions are approximately 19.5 Inches Tall (bottom to top of the two vertical metal mounting bars), 23 Inches Wide (bar to bar on the outsides of the neon tubing), and 6 Inches Deep.
We are listing this as Local Pickup only at this time. The sign is currently stored at another location, so we would need a day or two to retrieve it.
We would also be available to meet for pickup at a mutually agreed upon location/date/time, within a One-Hour or so drive of the 08243 Area Code. We would also be willing to travel farther, but would need to ask for some reimbursement for gas and tolls. Please contact us if you would like to discuss either of those possibilities.
