Description
In this listing - an antique small single bit axe head c.1900 found while metal detecting around a collaped backwoods camp site. I had come across this fallen down trapper's cabin while timber cruising 30 years ago. My wife and I decided to try to find it again and do a little detecting. There wasn't much left of the cabin but in the back along one mossy beam she dug this little pole axe head. It only weighs 2 lbs and is 5 3/8" X 3 1/4" with a 2" eye. This is the kind of axe trappers would carry in a split ash pack basket - more versatile for trail and trap line work than a belt hatchet but not too heavy to lug. Lots of pitting from being buried in wet soil for generations but what a great piece of history!Ships by tracked mail for guaranteed delivery to Canada of USA.
