Vintage splitting axe

Description

This axe came to me battered and covered in rust. Now it stands proudly as one of my favorite axes to swing. It has a very full bit despite the abuse it had seen previously. Though the pole was clearly hammered a lot it surprisingly has very little mushrooming. The handle is American hickory with excellent grain orientation and minimal run-out. The wedge is walnut and the hang is perfect. Both the head and handle have been treated with my own conditioning wax and which I also include a 1oz tin of with your purchase as well as my shop sticker.
This axe is a felling axe and will do very well for chopping down trees or splitting firewood. It is a joy to swing.
