  • Featured Refinements: Hewing Hatchet / Axe
  • All returns accepted: ReturnsNotAccepted
  • Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
  • Original/Reproduction: Vintage Original
  • Brand: True Temper Flint Edge (Kelly Works)??
  • Condition: This old hewing axe, is in as found condition. I have done nothing to clean or repair this antique hewing axe. That being said, the axe is in nice lightly used condition. But does have surface rust on it here & there (see all pics). The reason I did not want to wire brush or clean this axe head off is because of the "WHITE LETTERING" on the makers mark "TRUE TEMPER FLINT EDGE" (see pics), I have had, and sold a lot of axes from TRUE TEMPER before, but have never seen the name in "WHITE" (see pics). The cutting edge has some very minor chips and nicks on it (see pics). The poll end is in great condition, it looks like its never been used as a hammer at all. The axe head is securely mounted to the original hickory handle, not loose at all. I did not "DRIVE" the handle down on the handle (you can see the cap from the original mounting position on the handle , see pic #2). On the back of the head it's stamped D. L. & W RR. (see pic #8). That stands for DELAWARE, LACKAWANNA, & WESTERN RR.

NICE! Vintage/Antique TRUE TEMPER Flint Edge Hewing Hatchet/Axe Marked D.L.& W R.R. Railroad
This old hewing axe, is in as found condition. I have done nothing to clean or repair this antique  hewing axe. That being said, the axe is in nice lightly used condition. That stands for DELAWARE, LACKAWANNA, & WESTERN RAILROAD. The railroad was in business from 1851 to 1960. The total weight of the axe is 3 pounds 14.4 oz. The total length is 16" long. The axe head is 6-3/4" long, with a bit thats 5-1/4" wide.
Over all a very nice old hewing axe that should appeal to the Rail Road fan and Axe fan.
