Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe AFN2 (Anzeigergerät für Funknavigation) Indicator, Ln. 27002!This was the Radio Homing Indicator in late-war German aircraft such as the Me109, Fw190, He219, Me-110, Me262, and other late-war fighters.
The AFN2 possesses 2 pointers, both horizontal and vertical.
When the aircraft is in-line on a direct course to base, the first needle (vertical) sits exactly upright, in-line with the square marking on the bottom. The second needle (horizontal) indicates the distance of the airplane to the transmitter (radio beacon). When flying over the transmitter the horizontal needle points in-line with the middle marking on the left.
When flying directly over the transmitter the fluorescent lamp (Fl.26682), integrated into the AFN2 would light up.
This was used in the Me109, Fw190, Me262, He219, and other late-war
Fighters and Bombers.
Made of aluminum and bakelite this instrument is dated around 1944, and would have been used right up until the end of the war.
It retains 95% of it's original finish, however there are some small marks and scratches.
No dents or damage! The Ln. number is clearly indicated on the face (Ln. 27002), and the ink stamp data label is complete.
I have shown its location in the last photos. Brought back by a US Serviceman, it w
ould make a PERFECT addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
Please email me if you need additional photos or information.

All sales are final, so please make sure your questions are answered to your satisfaction before you purchase.
------------------- ABOUT ME -----------------
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
