Description

You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Issue T
ischfernsprecher Model 38 Command Field Phone
!  This was used by various units throughout the war.
Accurate intelligence and secure lines of communication are crucial elements to all armies in the field and during WWII each division in the German Army had an integral Signals unit. The Signals unit were usually of Battalion strength and generally consisted of a Headquarters Company, a Radio Company and a Telephone Company. The Signals personnel utilized a wide variety of radio receivers, field telephones and associated communications equipment in all theatres of operation. The Feldfernsprecher 33, (Field Telephone 33), was the standard issue field telephone used by the German military during WWII. The induction magneto F33 field telephone was powered by a 1.5 volt dry cell battery and could be used as a wire communication set and a remote communication set in conjunction with the Tornister Funkgerät d2, and the Tornister Funkgerät b1 and F, (Portable Radio sets models d2, b1 and F).
The Tischfernsprecher Model 38 Command Field Phone was used extensively by the Wehrmacht.  It was designed to replace the Feldfernsprecher 33, when that model was not sufficient enough.  It could connect to other phones on the field or theater of battle.
Made of bakelite, aluminum, and steel this phone is in EXCELLENT used condition!
It features small panels riveted in place (one being a cardboard writing panel on the left and an aluminum panel with phonetic and pronunciation code on the right).  The crank handle (which is included) stores neatly inside.  Attached is a battery box, which would power the unit.
The interior has the printed circuit schematic diagrams.
It features the original Model 33 handset with a rectangular connector, 5-position/4-pin, which connects inside.  Manufactured in 1940, it has the manufacture logo is stamped into the data plate.  All information and electrical connection plates are are still intact!  No breaks, chips or damage...but there are some marks and wear, due to the age.  Various waffenamts throughout.  100% COMPLETE internally, it is currently FUNCTIONAL!  It has the standard "hollow" sound of the time period, but everything works as it should, and it rings when there is an incoming call!  Brought back by a US Veteran, it has the Squadron Logo of the USAAF "Horny Toads" Las Vegas Gunnery School (which would have been added by the veteran).  A VERY INTERESTING item, it would make a
PERFECT item for any collection or display!
