Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB used example of a 100% ORIGINAL German Kriegsmarine EM/NCO Officer's Winter Fur Cap (Mützen)! This type was used in foul weather conditions, when on the deck of various U-Boats, Battships, Destroyers, and other vessels!
First issued in the fall, the Winter Fur Caps (Pelzmutzen) were a standard issue item, and were distributed to all EM/NCO’s for the winter season.
As the season changed, winter issued clothing were to be returned to the various storage depots, until their reissued in the following September.
Although there was no official standard model of the fur cap, the most commonly encountered type followed the basic pattern of the Mountain and M43 caps with fold down back and side panels designed to protect the wearers ears and neck.
Made of dark grey leather and wool/fleece, this German Kriegsmarine Winter Fur Hat, is in AMAZING used condition! It has been in storage since 1945, which is why it is in such good shape.
Similar to a Luftwaffe Flight Helmet in design, it
t features back and side panels that secure around the wearer's neck and chin. This was so that the wearer was fully protected from the harsh sea air and wind. It is secured by a front section that snaps closed for a tight fit under the wearer’s chin. Snaps are made by PRYM, and the inside features the ORIGINAL manufacture stamp, and a size 56! There is some slight wear due to the age...as well as some tiny pin holes, but otherwise SUPERB!
In NEAR PERFECT condition, it would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection or display!!

------------------- ABOUT ME -----------------
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
