This is for an old handmade brass piece.
I am pretty sure it is a WWII trench art piece.
It has an anchor with a gear in the center?  Maybe a machinist or mechanic symbol.
I was told it's German Navy..
Lots of guessing here. **So please use own judgement.
It looks like a trivet but has no feet.
It is a well made piece. ( weighs 14 ounces).
It shows age and heavy tarnish. There is also some old white polishing cream in the creveses.
