And this is a vintage original Griffiths Tool Works hammer/axe/ hatchet tool. The Griffiths Tool Works company first opened in 1857. They continued as a going concern until 1978. This makes this Axe/Hammer/Hatchet at least 44 years old at a minimum. Probably much older. The trademark is visible despite the age of the tool. One point that needs to be carefully noted is that the handle does not appear to be original. It appears to be a hickory wood handle that was added many years ago. 13 and 1/2 in from top of bit to the bottom of the handle. 6 in from the bit to the Hammer head. Weight 1 and 3/4 lb
